Trap hails Verona-like Napoli

Giovanni Trapattoni has likened the present Napoli side to Osvaldo Bagnoli's legendary Verona outfit of the 1980s.

Bagnoli's Stadio Bentegodi boys surprisingly became League champions in 1985 for the first time after slaying Italian football's traditional giants.

"Walter Mazzarri's side reminds me a lot of the miraculous Verona team which won the Scudetto under Bagnoli," stated the Republic of Ireland boss, who was in charge of Juventus at the time.

"The squad is strong, united and compact. The Scudetto is a dream that can be achieved, even if we must not put too much pressure on Mazzarri's side."

Napoli are currently third after their win at Parma, six points behind Milan and just one shy of Inter in the standings.

"During these difficult times for Milan and Inter, Napoli are the side who can take advantage," added Trap.

The veteran Coach also revealed that he would call up Napoli's attacking trio and one other Azzurri player if they had Irish passports.

"I'd pick Edinson Cavani, Marek Hamsik and Ezequiel Lavezzi, as well as Christian Maggio who is another great player."
