Junior Traorè expressed happiness at Sassuolo’s 2-2 draw with Roma today, highlighting the team’s effort and performance.

The Neroverdi fell 1-0 down in the first half following a Nicolo Zaniolo penalty, but an own goal by Chris Smalling and a Traore strike put the Emilian side 2-1 up. Things collapsed in the final minutes of the match, with Bryan Cristante picking up a last minute equaliser.

Speaking to DAZN after the match, Traorè first reacted to the draw with Roma.

“I’m happy with the goal, the performance and the whole team because we put our souls into it. I accept what he said about Dionisi.”

He touched on his role within the Sassuolo squad.

“As the coach said, my role is on the pitch. I’ve done a bit of everything and where they put me I try to give my best.”

The 21-year-old Ivorian forward spoke about how it’s different playing as a winger or trequartista.

“No, it’s different. I try to play as best I can, but I think inside is my role. I adapt as winger.”

Finally, Traorè discussed what he still needs to do to improve.

“I think I need consistency. I have to try to work on that.”

The 21-year-old Traorè, who is contracted to Sassuolo until 2024, has made 19 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 916 minutes. In that time, he’s scored two goals and provided two assists.
