Adama Traoré clarifies he didn’t join Antonio Conte’s Tottenham for personal reasons and not for tactical issues.

The Italian tactician hoped to welcome Adama in the January transfer window, but Spurs went for Juventus‘ Dejan Kulusevski after the Spaniard opted to join Barcelona.

The Sweden international had snubbed a move to Conte’s Inter two years ago because of the coach’s tactics, but Adama, a product of Barcelona academy, has clarified that he decided to switch Wolves with Barcelona in January for personal reasons.

“I am happy to return to the city where I was born and that I love,” Adama told Barcelona TV as quoted by Sport.es.

“I’ve had the target to return here since the day I left. Sometimes you have to take different paths in order to meet again. I’ve wanted to return since the very beginning.”

Despite missing out on Adama, Conte seems to be happy with Tottenham’s transfer activities led by Fabio Paratici over the January transfer window. The former Inter and Juventus coach also welcomed Rodrigo Bentancur to North London.

“The two players are fit and for this reason tomorrow they are available, for sure to start the game is not right because they need to work with the team for a period. They can come in to help us a lot,” Conte said at a press conference last week.

“Kulusevski is a good player, he is very young, he is a great talent and he can play like a number 10 with the strikers but at the same time he has the potential to play wing-back on the right, he has good quality. He likes to attack, he is good on a one vs one, to create chances for team-mates. A good signing for us.

“Rodrigo and Dejan and they are the right prospects of following Tottenham philosophy. Young talented players to improve and they are important players for the future, but you need time to do this.”
