Stefan Radu is reportedly close to joining Inter as a free agent.

The 34-year-old could join his former coach Simone Inzaghi at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

His contract at the Stadio Olimpico expires at the end of the month, so the Nerazzurri can sign him without paying any fee to Lazio.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Radu would be a back-up for Alessandro Bastoni, who has recently signed a contract extension with the Serie A champions.

Inzaghi needs another left-footed centre-back and Radu would be an ideal option for the former Lazio coach who Inter appointed after Antonio Conte’s exit.

According to the report, personal terms are not expected to be a problem and the two parties could reach an agreement quite quickly.

Radu played 412 games at Lazio, six of those with Inzaghi as his teammate.

When the former striker became Lazio coach, Radu played 167 games under him.

The former Dinamo București defender played 33 games with Lazio last season, 31 in Serie A and two in the Champions League.
