Atalanta’s record signing El-Bilali Toure is making progress in his recovery from the injury that has kept him out of action since the beginning of the season, appearing in a training ground friendly at La Dea’s training centre in Bergamo on Thursday.

Toure joined Atalanta on a permanent deal in the summer, believed to be worth €28m plus €3m in bonuses, making him the club’s most expensive purchase of all time.

He is yet to feature competitively for his new club, however, as he picked up a severe tendon injury during a pre-season friendly against Juventus, which required surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation process.

Now though, Toure is progressing well in his injury comeback according to TMW, and could be in contention to get his first Serie A appearances in the coming weeks.

Atalanta are well stocked in their attacking department, with the likes of Luis Muriel, Aleksei Miranchuk, Charles De Ketelaere and Ademola Lookman all vying for places in the starting line-up.

The latter, Lookman, is currently unavailable to Gian Piero Gasperini, having been called up to the Nigeria squad for the Africa Cup of Nations. Toure would have likely been called up by his native Mali had it not been for his recent injury struggles.
