“Our fans are unique in the world and proved that again last night at the end of the defeat to Bayern Munich, showing their warmth and proud attitude,” wrote Totti on his blog.
The captain also had a message for the father and son who were tragically killed in a car crash on their way home from the match.
“I want to thank every fan, but unfortunately I find myself with immense sadness having to salute two who are gone, Stefano and little Cristian.
“As captain of the team that they loved so much, but above all as a man and a father, I offer my sincerest condolences to their family. I am close to you.”
