Francesco Totti had high praise for his former Roma teammate Mohamed Salah, suggesting the Liverpool star is ‘one of the ten best players in the world’.

Salah spent two season with the Giallorossi earlier in his career, from 2015 to 2017. During his time in Italy, the Egyptian forward scored 34 goals and provided 22 assists in 83 appearances, earning a €42m move to Liverpool in July 2017, where he’d rise to prominence as one of the best players in the Premier League.

Speaking on Egyptian TV, Totti highlighted his strong relationship with Salah and how the Liverpool star is one of the best players in the world.

“Salah is one of the ten best players in the world and I have a relationship with him that goes beyond football. Messi and Ronaldo remain. They are two different players, Messi is more technical, Ronaldo is more of a team man.”

The Roma legend expressed his confusion over football’s highest individual honour, the Ballon d’Or.

“Honestly, in 30 years of my career, I’ve never understood how the Ballon d’Or is won, whether it’s a team or an individual award.”

He suggested that Salah would be worth hundreds of millions, due to both his talent and work ethic.

“Salah before being a great player, is an exceptional guy, humble, polite and always available. With us he had had a great season, I knew that if he went to a team like Liverpool he would become even stronger.

“If I were the president of a team I would pay at least €200 million for him.”

Finally, Totti revealed how private Salah was during his time with Roma.

“We didn’t have many stories together, he led a life of his own. He would train and go home to his wife.”

  1. Italian football lost 200 million in revenue because Roma sold him, helping to knock out Italian sides in the Champions.

  2. Totti is a legend in his own right, but for him to opine that Ronaldo is more of a team man..what?!?! He’s more me me me. I’ve seen Messi willingly give up the ball more than Ronaldo.

As for possible Salah €200m, come on Totti, no club in Serie A can do that, nor a tenth of that annually.
