Francesco Totti is reportedly in talks with the Friedkin family for a sensational return to Roma in a directorial role.

The club legend is a mainstay in the stands of the Stadio Olimpico to watch his beloved team, and was also present in Tirana when they beat Feyenoord 1-0 on Wednesday night to win the Conference League trophy.

Totti famously never forgave President Jim Pallotta or coach Luciano Spalletti, who he blamed for pushing him into retirement by not offering a new contract in the summer of 2017.

He only ever played for the Giallorossi from their youth academy straight through to hanging up his boots and made it clear he would relish a role back at the club.

The Corriere dello Sport suggests that now the Friedkin family have taken over from Pallotta, with Jose Mourinho as coach, that could be on the cards.

Totti is currently running his own football talent agency and continues to play in his own five-a-side team.

He would love a similar role to the one Milan legend Paolo Maldini has at San Siro, in turn representing a guarantee for the fans that the club’s best interests will be at the forefront of their minds.

Totti had been offered a role in the past, but walked away because he had no power to make decisions, instead complaining he was treated as something of a mascot.
