The former Giallorossi star, who lost his father Enzo Totti to coronavirus last month, was tested for COVID-19 at the start of November, as he had developed a fever.

He underwent the swab test and the results revealed he had contracted the virus and the former Italy international reveals he was struggling for 15 days.

“Hello everyone! As you have known in recent weeks, I haven’t been well,” the former Roma captain wrote on Instagram.

“Now I have recovered, and I can tell you with some relief that I had COVID and it was not a walk in the park.

“The fever didn’t go down; I suffered low oxygen capacity and my strength went away. The diagnosis was a blow to the heart: Bilateral pneumonitis due to Sars Cov 2 infection!

“I was able to cure myself from home, 15 long days, but now that everything has passed, I want to thank those who have been closest to me and therefore a special thanks to Prof. Alberto Zangrillo, to Prof. Monica Rocco and Silvia Angeletti.

“COVID can be beaten with the right precautions and indications.”
