Francesco Totti detailed his plans to convince Paulo Dybala to sign for Roma and touched on his superstitions ahead of the Europa Conference League final.

The Giallorossi will face Torino this evening in their final Serie A game of the season, a must-win match if they want to achieve a fifth place finish in the league, although they’ll also need Lazio to lose against Hellas Verona tomorrow. Next week on May 25, Roma will face Feyenoord in the Conference League final.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Totti first commented on Roma’s upcoming two matches.

“They are two totally different matches but they have a similar importance because Europe is at stake. The final, however, is very important because there is a trophy at stake.”

He touched on Mourinho’s strengths ahead of a European final.

“He has won so many trophies, nobody knows better than him how to play a European final. It’s not the Champions League but it has to be respected and won. He’ll know how to manage everything in the best way.”

The former Giallorossi captain commented on the strong support from the fans this season.

“Roma’s transition has taken a different path. The drive of the Roma fans is different from all the others. Having a twelfth man like that is a great advantage.”

Totti gave his thoughts on if Lorenzo Pellegrini was the right player to be captain.

“Everyone has difficult moments, I’ve had them too, but I’ve always said it, as a figure and a player he has charisma and professionalism. He has everything to be a captain, like me and like De Rossi did.”

He touched on if he would ever return to Roma in the future.

“Who wouldn’t like to be at Roma, we know the problems there have been but the new ownership has new ideas. Marriages are always made with two though. The important thing though is that Roma do well.”

The former Italy international did not want to predict if the Giallorossi would win the Conference League final.

“I’m not saying anything out of superstition, I hope they can bring it home. I’ll be there if I find the flight.”

He gave his thoughts on the title race between Milan and Inter ahead of the final weekend.

“Milan are one point away and they won’t miss this chance. We’ll see if they know how to take advantage of this opportunity but I think so. For Inter the knockout in Bologna was decisive, before that I thought they could win the Scudetto.”

Finally, Totti spoke about his plans to convince Dybala of a move to the Italian capital.

“We’ll see if we can bring him to Rome, I’ll meet him on Monday and I hope to convince him. We’re in Milan for Eto’o’s match, we’ll play together and I’ll give him some advice, I’ll try to put something in his head, hopefully we’ll succeed. That is if Roma are of the same mind as me.”

3 thought on “Totti hopes to convince Dybala of Roma move”
  1. I’ve nothing negative against Dybala. Not sure how if he fits into Roma‘s plans. Can he work with Abraham? Might be interesting if he can stay healthy and Mourinho can figure out how to use him

  2. Disappointed it hasn’t worked out for him at Juve, he was such a brilliant part of the run to the Final in 2017, his goals against Barca and his partnership with Higuain. Also his goal against Spurs a couple of years ago. Wish him well but not against Juve.

  3. All fans must join Roma to win the Conference league and bring the title and Trophy to Rome. Best wishes to Mourinho and the team for a fantastic victory
