Francesco Totti gave a positive response to journalists when questioned about the reports Jose Mourinho has asked him to return to Roma in an intermediary role.

Recent reports from newspaper La Repubblica claimed that the Special One would like Roma’s legendary former captain to return to the Stadio Olimpico to act as the ‘voice of the club’.

Mourinho has often complained that he is the only person at Roma responsible for addressing the media when it comes to controversial decisions, which has earned him a series of bans and fines during his time with the Giallorossi. Totti’s suggested role would alleviate some of that responsibility.

Totti, who attended the Italian Padel awards at Foro Italico in Rome on Thursday, was asked by reporters whether there was any truth in the reports and if he is set to return to his beloved Roma.

He responded: “I have seen the stories that have been written. Mourinho has said something to me, let’s wait and see what happens.”

Then, when asked if we really could see him back at the Olimpico next season, Totti gave an even more encouraging answer. “Next year, I may already be there,” he told the press.
