Francesco Totti suggested ‘it would be easier’ to convince Jose Mourinho to stay at Roma if ‘it depended’ on him.

Much has been written about the future of the 60-year-old Portuguese coach in recent months, with reports linking him to various jobs from the Brazilian and Portuguese national teams to Paris Saint-Germain.

Mourinho succeeded in his first season with Roma, guiding them to their first ever major European title in the Europa Conference League, and could take them to the final of the Europa League this season. Despite this, there are rumours that he’s unsure about the future of the project in Rome.

Speaking at the Internazionali d’Italia tennis tournament in Rome, Totti was first asked about how Roma could convince Mourinho to stay.

“If it depended on me, it would be easier, let’s see what will happen. I don’t know what they said with the club, and I don’t know what will happen. They will decide the best solution.”

He then looked ahead to the Europa League semi-final clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

“There are still 90 minutes left that are important to reach the goal we all want and that is the final.”

Despite the recent reports that PSG are pushing to appoint Mourinho in the summer, the Portuguese coach recently claimed that he’d had no contact with the Ligue 1 giants.
