Roma legend Francesco Totti and his wife Ilary Blasi have taken to social media to deny rumours that they will split up.

Growing reports over the last 48 hours have suggested that the former Italy striker and his wife would have split up after over 20 years together and 17 of marriage. Ilary was a crucial figure in the professional life of the ex Roma captain who dedicated several of his goal celebrations to Ilary, one of the most popular models and TV personalities in Italy.

Once, she even publicily criticised ex Roma coach Luciano Spalletti calling him a ‘small man,’ months before Totti’s retirement from football.

According to some reports, Totti and Ilary were even living in different houses while she didn’t attend his birthday this past September. However, Ilary shared an Instagram story showing Totti having dinner with her at a restaurant in Rome while the former Roma captain denied rumours with another video where he looked pretty upset.

“I’ve read many things about my family and me over the last few hours,” said Totti.

“It’s not the first time that I hear this fake news, but pay attention because kids are involved and must be respected. Honestly, I am tired to keep denying these rumours.”
