Former heroes Francesco Totti and Fabio Cannavaro have claimed Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon will play until ‘they make him stop’.
Buffon has turned 42 and will most likely continue at the Allianz Stadium until June 2021, but former Roma captain Totti has claimed we will still see him play on for two or three more years.
“I’ll tell you; Gigi wants to play until he’s 50. But he can play for two or three more seasons. Besides, he’s in goal and is a back-up,” Totti told former defender Cannavaro on Instagram.

The World Cup winners agreed that their former teammate would keep playing, but Cannavaro pointed out that Buffon will be forced to stop in the end.
“Well, you’ll know it. He won’t want to stop, but they will make him stop, which is very different,” the former Juventus centre-back replied.
Last week, reports claimed Buffon will extend his current deal expiring in June with a further year, which means he’ll be 43 when it expires.
The goalkeeper returned to Turin last year after a one-season spell with Paris Saint-Germain and has played second fiddle to Wojciech Szczesny in his second stint at the Bianconeri.
He has been handed 11 competitive appearances this season between Serie A, the Champions League and the Coppa Italia. So far, he has kept three clean sheets and conceded nine goals in the process.
