Swedish sensation Lucas Bergvall chose Tottenham Hotspur ahead of Barcelona, but reveals it could’ve been very different. ‘I had a trial at Juventus in 2020.’

The midfielder just turned 18 last week and was at the centre of a bidding war between the two clubs in January.

They had made similar proposals, giving his club Djurgarden circa €10m, so the decision was ultimately up to him and he picked Spurs.

“It was not easy to say no to Barcelona and I took a long time to make a decision, but I think I made the right choice,” he told Aftonbladet.

“It was 50-50, but in the end I felt that Tottenham was the right next step for my career. It was a visceral sensation.”

Bergvall reveals he spoke to former Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski about the situation, getting information on Tottenham and life in London.

During this revelation, another intriguing detail emerges about how his career could’ve taken a very different path indeed.

“I already knew Kulusevski, as I met him when I went to have a trial at Juventus in 2020.”
