Tottenham Hotspur are ready to step up their pursuit of Sampdoria and Denmark international midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard, claims La Repubblica.

There is plenty of interest in the player who scored two stunning strikes for his country at UEFA EURO 2020 this summer.

Leeds United and Aston Villa are also pursuing Damsgaard, along with Napoli within Serie A confines.

However, Spurs seem to be the favourites and La Repubblica newspaper suggests they will increase their offer over the next couple of days.

Samp President Massimo Ferrero has stated the price-tag is an absolute minimum of €30m for the player who only turned 21 last month.

Damsgaard has four goals in just eight senior caps for Denmark and cost €6.75m to sign from Nordsjaelland under a year ago.
