Tottenham loanee Harry Winks was praised by Italian papers after a 2-2 draw against Monza on Monday and was called the Blucerchiati’s ‘washing machine’ by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The England international played 90 minutes at the U-Power Stadium on Monday night and was among the best players for the Blucerchiati.
This morning’s Pagelle – player ratings – on Italian sports papers highlight his convincing performance. He was rated 6/10 by Gazzetta and Il Corriere dello Sport and 6.5 by Tuttosport.
‘Winks was the washing machine that tidied up Sampdoria’s possession,’ wrote the pink paper.
Tuttosport added that since returning to action, the Tottenham loanee ‘has become a certainty in midfield’ for the Blucerchiati.
The 27-year-old made his Serie A debut coming off the bench in an away game against Empoli on January 16 and has four appearances in Italy’s top flight. He played 90 minutes in each of Sampdoria’s last three matches.
He missed the first part of the season due to an ankle injury. He is on loan at Marassi and the Blucerchiati have an option to make his move permanent at the end of the season.
