Tottenham are ready to make a convincing offer for Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni, hoping to beat Manchester City to the punch.

The Nerazzurri will be forced to sell one top player this summer in order to help balance their accounts and many players have been linked with moves away in recent months, like Lautaro Martinez and Milan Skriniar. At the time being, however, Bastoni seems likely the most likely to be sold.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham are prepared to submit a serious offer for Bastoni, keen to reunite him with Antonio Conte in North London. The sale would allow Inter to keep their other stars, leaving Simone Inzaghi with a competitive squad for next season.

Manchester City and Manchester United are both also keen to secure the 23-year-old Italian centre back’s signature in the summer, but Spurs seem to have the advantage at the moment.

Inter value Bastoni at around €50-60m and it’s unlikely that they’ll let him leave for any less as they work to balance their accounts.

  1. If Inter sell him, they really are a stupid club. More so than Skriniar and De Vrij, they should be building the defense around Bastoni for the next 10 years.

  2. @Frankie: Of course they are a stupid club. Cannavaro Carini swap and Seedorf Pirlo transfers. Luckily for them, the man in control, Marotta, managed to sell one of the best midfield of the last 10 years in 12 months while being in charge of Juve and buying players like Lemina to replace them.

  3. Selling club. Barella should leave also. Both should just be wise on picking a top club that will support them. Bastoni suites Man City, Barella – Liverpool, Real or Bayern wouldn’t be so bad either.

If Inter are in the business of selling their best (which they are), they’ll never have sustained success, one year sure but not consistent when you change big players on the regular.

Bastoni and Barella are Inter’s best players in terms of age and ability, so why should they stay through years of instability that goes with a selling club, irrespective of being Italian they deserve better. They’ll never get to grow in the way they should be unless they are at a progressive club that challenges in Europe, year after year.

Unfortunately, right now that’s no where in Italy for that. Hopefully it changes.

But Italy have as much talent as anyone, therefore their players deserve the elite clubs.

PSG would be a mistake for their best talents Chiesa, Zaniolo, Barella, Bastoni, Locatelli, Tonali because you feel the bubble could burst at any moment and the league is weak, they only really play for Europe and they seem to fall every time with that.

However, right now Man City, Liverpool, Real and Bayern possibly Chelsea are the teams to consider for the top Italian talents.

  4. italian clubs hate italian players, they are nothing but filth these clubs, zanetti is a scum bag, he only wants his brothers from argentina, they all need to go, they have destroyed our game and italians have allowed it, traitors and cowards

  5. Bastoni, along with Barella, is probably the last player who should be sold.
Sense of deja vu about this story, exactly the same as a year ago, then they also said they would “only need to sell one big player, but two left. Expect the same to happen this year. Dumfries should be sacrificed along with Martinez, not the younger Italian talents.

  6. @urban sombrero
It was the owners of the club who said it actually, the media just reported it, and speculate about how they can make the capital gains they have said they need, 70 million, along with cuts to the wage bill.

  7. Money Money Money! You have a poor league and you can´t pay good salaries, what do you expect these good players to do? Lazy Italians

  8. Nuts nuts nuts to sell one of the only great Italian players on the team. And younger than the others. If they sell him, Inter fans should get really mad.

  9. Inter has officially turned into a farmer’s team. Reminds me of Monchi at Roma when he claimed “Roma is not a supermarket” then proceeded to sell the entire team.

  10. @Zambrotta
I remember Cannavaro well, called on the phone by Moggi, injured in Appiano Gentile and stuck on his bike in the gym, with a very sore knee on Wednesday, running on the pitch the following Sunday with the Juventus team …

  11. @Frankie
Nobody spends a lot of money on De Vrij. Inter must balance their accounts and the Chinese Communist Party may be forced to sell Bastoni at a high price and to buy Gleison Bremer cheaply.

  12. I think it’s a great move for bastoni he will be playing in a league where he can improve every week unfortunately seria a has gone down hill so much at least some Italian talent will
    Get better
