Milan face fresh competition from Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur for Lille defender Sven Botman, already a target for Newcastle United.

Lille steadfastly refused to even consider a January exit for the Dutch international centre-back, but he is expected to move on in the summer.

A price-tag of circa €30m has been placed on the defender, although that could rise if there is a bidding war.

Agent: ‘Botman will make right choice between Milan and Newcastle’

So far, Milan and Newcastle United have been doing battle on the transfer market, but they face new competition from Spurs.

According to The Telegraph newspaper, Conte has asked director Fabio Paratici to look at reinforcing the defence and Botman is one of the names on the list.

The pressure is already on Paratici to deliver, having struggled to make much of an impact on their first choice objectives in the January window.

Tottenham have also been linked with Inter centre-backs Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij.
