Tottenham Hotspur might’ve found the key to securing Italy Under-21 international Destiny Udogie by leaving him at Udinese on loan.

The 19-year-old left-back has also been heavily linked with Lazio and Juventus, but those clubs probably cannot compete with Chelsea in a bidding war.

He was purchased from Verona this summer following a loan spell for a total €4m fee, albeit owing Hellas a cut of the sell-on cash.

Udogie made a big impression last season, contributing five goals and three assists in 35 Serie A appearances.

Most of his career was spent as a left wing-back in a 3-5-2 formation, at both Verona and Udinese, so he would suit Antonio Conte’s tactics.

The asking price is believed to be €25m, but Udinese are still hesitant to let him go so soon into his career.

According to Telegraph Sport and Sky Sport Italia, the key could well be Tottenham purchasing Udogie now, but leaving him on loan at Udinese for the 2022-23 season.
