According to reports in Italy, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has been approached by Tottenham Hotspur, where he would once again be replacing Antonio Conte.

FCInterNews.it maintain that his agent Tullio Tinti received a call from Spurs asking if he would be interested in taking the job.

Inzaghi took over from Conte at Inter and in his two seasons at the club has achieved a great deal, finishing second in Serie A, winning the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana in his first campaign.

So far in the second year, he has won the Supercoppa Italiana again, reached the Coppa Italia Final that will be played against Fiorentina on May 24 and has a 2-0 first leg lead in the Champions League semi-final with Milan.

His position had been a major doubt only a couple of weeks ago because of some poor Serie A results, but they too have turned around now and if they beat Sassuolo tonight, Inter will leapfrog into at least third place.

It is the European journey that has most impressed Tottenham, especially considering in two years that Conte had never managed to get Inter beyond the Champions League group stage.

Conte’s continental record has always been dire, as seen by going out to Milan failing to score a goal in the Round of 16.

He terminated his contract by mutual consent with the Premier League club in March.

Inzaghi is under contract until June 2024, but there continue to be sections of the fanbase who want him fired for a more prestigious name.
