Newcastle United and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly asked for Roma centre-back Roger Ibanez.

According to Il Messaggero and Calcionews24.com, his performances in Serie A and the Europa Conference League have caught the eye of Premier League outfits.

It is reported the two clubs are prepared to offer in the region of €30m for the defender, whereas the release clause in his contract stands at €80m.

The 23-year-old Brazilian has joint Italian citizenship and joined Atalanta in 2019, moving to Roma in January 2020 first on loan and then on a permanent basis for €9m plus bonuses.

If the player is sold before June 2024, then Atalanta will be owed a 10 per cent cut of the transfer fee.

Ibanez was practically ever-present for Roma this season with 51 competitive appearances, including four goals for Jose Mourinho’s side.

Tottenham and Newcastle are looking to several Serie A clubs for new defenders, including Inter’s Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni, plus Torino’s Gleison Bremer.
