The Gazzetta dello Sport suggest Fernando Torres is happy to join Milan, but attention is still on his salary.

The Rossoneri are seen to have reached agreement with Chelsea for an initial loan deal for the 30-year-old and their in-house television service Milan Channel yesterday asserted that negotiations were focused on his wages.

The Gazzetta dello Sport report, though, that the club have received a positive indication from the player over his willingness to move to San Siro, and that this came through a telephone conversation with Adriano Galliani.

The pink paper reiterates that the issue now is on negotiating down the Spain international’s salary, from its current annual rate of between €7m and €8m.

It is understood that Milan are willing to fund a wage of €3m, rising to €4m with the inclusion of bonuses, but that Torres will not be able to match his current Stamford Bridge earnings.

The Gazzetta suggest that the next few hours could be key in reaching an agreement or not.
