Torres’ 18-month loan deal with Atleti is about to expire, but so is his Milan contract, and the striker will reportedly put pen to paper for two years with his boyhood club.

“Only the small details are missing, but everyone knows my will: I want to stay here,” he told Marca.

“[Edinson] Cavani? I can only speak of my teammates, a team who in three years have reached the Champions League final twice and are extremely competitive.

“For me, the best [players] are the ones who are already here.”

Torres, who missed out on a place in the Spain squad for Euro 2016, scored 12 goals for Atleti last season after he rejoined the club in January 2015, with Alessio Cerci heading in the opposite direction.
