Lucas Torreira’s agent Pablo Bentancur insists that Fiorentina remain his client’s priority, but there is still no agreement with the Tuscans over the player’s salary.
Torreira joined Fiorentina on loan from Arsenal last summer and has been one of the best performers at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in 2021-22. The Serie A side have a €15m option to buy, but they have not reached an agreement over the midfielder’s salary.
For this reason, Torreira is expected to return to Arsenal in the summer, but his agent insists that the Uruguay star’s priority is to remain at Fiorentina.
“I tried to reach an agreement with [Fiorentina director Daniele] Pradé before leaving,” he told Calcio Napoli 24 Live.
“My priority is to reach an agreement with Fiorentina. Lucas is not thinking about other clubs because he had a great time in Florence. He feels the love of fans.
“There is only one problem and it’s the contract. Commissions have nothing to do with it.”
There have been rumours that Napoli and Juventus are interested in the former Samp man, but Torreira’s agent is not thinking about other clubs at the moment.
“Right now, we are only looking for an agreement with Fiorentina, then we’ll see.”
Torreira, 26, has scored five goals and delivered two assists in 35 games across all competitions this season, becoming one of the fans’ idols in Florence. Some of them have also started a petition to convince the club to make his move permanent using the hashtag #Riscattatetorreira on Twitter.
