Lucas Torreira will not stay at Fiorentina after his loan spell, but is still determined to remain in Serie A and leave Arsenal, this time for Lazio.

The Uruguay international spent this season at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and rediscovered his form with five goals and two assists in 31 Serie A appearances.

He had tried to remain with the Viola on a permanent basis, but this week released a statement confirming he had abandoned negotiations, blaming Fiorentina for preventing the deal from going ahead.

According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, Torreira is still convinced he wants to leave Arsenal and continue his career in Italy.

His plan is to offer himself to Lazio and coach Maurizio Sarri, which had already been an option last summer before striking the agreement with Fiorentina.

There is still one year left on his contract with Arsenal, which is due to expire in June 2023.
