Lucas Torreira’s agent is meeting with Arsenal today and is expected to request a loan move to Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

The Uruguay international midfielder has become the next target for the Giallorossi after Granit Xhaka extended his contract with the Gunners instead.

According to Roma Press, Torreira’s representative Pablo Bentancur is in London today for a meeting with Arsenal directors.

He is returning from a loan spell with Atletico Madrid, but does not want to remain in England.

The 25-year-old spent most of his career in Italy at Pescara and Sampdoria until the €28m move to Arsenal in 2018, but struggled to adapt.

Under contract until June 2023, he could join Roma on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Arsenal had been ready only to make it a permanent transfer, but are beginning to change their minds and could be open to a loan with option.

Torreira had also been linked with Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio earlier in the summer.
