Lorenzo Insigne has received a huge proposal from Toronto FC, according to Sky Sport Italia, but the Napoli captain does not seem tempted by the idea of following Sebastian Giovinco to MLS.
His current contract is due to expire in June 2022 and his agent vented frustration yesterday that Napoli had only offered him a new deal if he accepted a 50 per cent pay cut.
It is reportedly worth €3.5m per season plus a difficult to achieve package of bonuses worth another €1.5m.
Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Major League Soccer side Toronto FC have contacted Insigne with a massive salary and benefits if he will move to Canada.
It would see Insigne follow in the footsteps of Sebastian Giovinco, who went from Juventus to TFC and became an icon for the club.
However, Insigne and his family do not seem intrigued by the idea of moving to MLS at this stage in his career.
He only recently turned 30 and was among the most impressive performers for Italy as they won UEFA EURO 2020 this summer.

Don’t even consider it Insigne…big mistake. Kiss the nazionale goodbye if you do.
I love TFC but i love the national team more. TFC has a lot of money in North America. I remember when Roma and Bradley, totti and Diflorenzi came to toronto for a friendly. And giovinco plauing for us and won a championship. I wish more italians would play here. Giovinco is a hero back in Toronto. But i know if Insigne comes for the money he will not be on the national team anymore.
After 2022 he will need to step aside anyway.

Not sure Mancini would ignore him if he moved. Doesn’t seem like that guy also believe seba was called by Mancini while at tfc. Question Insigne has to ask is does he want to make peanuts at Napoli and win nothing. Or make boatloads of cash, greater quality of life in Toronto and win something here.
Ask Giovinco how it worked out for him. Family is still here loaded beyond belief living large in the 6. Will be for generations. Can’t say the same for Insigne and Napoli no doubt.
