Toronto FC pulled off the unthinkable by securing Lorenzo Insigne’s signature and now they’re working to sign Genoa forward Mattia Destro.

The 30-year-old Napoli winger’s move to the Canadian club at the end of the season is one of the most sensational transfer market stories in recent years, and the MLS side haven’t stopped following Serie A, planning a few more Italian-flavoured moves.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Toronto are currently in talks with Italian centre forward Mattia Destro, whose contract expires with Genoa at the end of this season. He has performed well this campaign despite the Rossoblu’s troubles, scoring eight goals in 16 Serie A appearances.

The Canadian side are also following Genoa defender Domenico Criscito closely as well, highlighting their focus on Serie A following the Insigne deal.

Destro has been with Genoa since 2020, joining the club on a free transfer after his contract expired with Bologna. Last season he scored 11 goals in 29 league appearances.
