Toronto FC have already signed three Italians this year and they aren’t ready to stop yet as they set their sights on free agent Luca Ceppitelli.

The 32-year-old Italian defender is currently available to sign on a free transfer after his contract expired with Cagliari earlier this month, ending an eight-year spell with the Sardinian club. Before that, Ceppitelli spent time with Parma, Bari and Andria.

As reported by TMW, Toronto FC are interested in picking up Ceppitelli on a free transfer this summer, keen to make him the replacement for Carlos Salcedo.

The Canadian club have already signed Lorenzo Insigne, Domenico Criscito and Federico Bernardeschi this year, and now they could add a fourth Italian as well.

During his eight years with Cagliari, Ceppitelli made 186 appearances across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing one assist. He picked up 45 yellow cards and two red cards across this period.

  1. I feel sorry for Giovinco he could of been a all time great but Juventus didn’t want him so went MLS. He became a legend there but not in Europe or for the national team. Now he is a free agent again .

  2. Who cares ? These players only go to MLS at the end of their careers and when they can no longer make the roster in the best leagues in Europe and Serie A isn’t one of them!
