Torino President Urbano Cairo has called on Serie A to reschedule his club’s derby against Juventus as it clashes with the 70th anniversary of Superga.
The Derby della Mole will be played on the afternoon on Sunday May 4 as it stands, but Cairo argued it would be wrong for the match to coincide with the memory of the crash victims.
“You can't play a derby on May 4, the same day that we, all the Granata fans, remember 70 years of the Superga tragedy,” he told reporters.

“We’ll find an alternative solution. We’ll meet Juventus. Let’s do it as soon as possible and, together with Lega Calcio, we’ll find a different date.
“I believe it’s in the interests of those who love football to find the right answer.”
All 31 of the passengers, including the entire Grande Torino squad, died on May 4, 1949 after a plane carrying them crashed on Superga Hill in Turin.
