The Granata kick-off on Sunday in desperate need of three points but these Torino vs. Empoli predictions show that it will far from straightforward for the home side. Ivan Juric’s side have lost their last three matches but come up against an Empoli team with just one win this season.

Torino vs. Empoli odds

1 – A draw at full-time – 36/13

2 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 9/11

3 – Both teams to score – 22/23

4 – Torino to score a penalty – 9/2

5 – Destro to score anytime – 11/4

Torino take on Empoli this weekend with both teams enduring miserable spells of form. Ivan Juric will point to a tough run of fixtures that saw defeats to Atalanta, Napoli and Inter. But the Granata will need to prove themselves against the Azzurri on Sunday.

This weekend’s visitors will have been disappointed to have conceded two late goals to miss out on a valuable draw against Milan last weekend. Empoli has finally ended a run of six games without a win to start the season by beating Bologna and a point against last season’s champions would have gone a long way to keep the streak going.

Paolo Zanetti’s side will arrive at the Stadio Grande Torino with an ambition to get back to winning ways, although will be wary of a side that they have only beaten once in their last six meetings. This fixture last season saw a draw and punters may look to the same result again for Sunday’s clash, with both teams looking relatively well matched on paper.

In particular, the two teams are experiencing the same struggle with goalscoring in recent weeks. Both sides have scored just seven goals this season with eight games played, with Torino drawing a blank in two of their last three games. As a result, a punt on under 2.5 goals to be scored this weekend could well pay off.

Even so, encounters between Torino and Empoli tend to be entertaining affairs. Last season saw four goals scored across the two meetings, with the previous year also producing eight goals over the campaign. Whilst neither side is free scoring at the moment, previous fixtures point towards both teams to score as an attractive bet.

One way in which the deadlock may be opened is from the spot. The last encounter between the two sides saw Torino score two penalties, although they are now without Andrea Belotti to convert them. Vicario has survived one penalty already this season, with high odds on him failing to do so on Sunday.

Torino team news

Ivan Juric may be able to welcome back both Samuele Ricci and Pietro Pellegrini for Sunday’s match, although neither is likely to start. Aleksey Miranchuk looked very much out of form returning to action last weekend but the manager is expected to keep faith with the forward against Empoli.

Empoli team news

Paolo Zanetti may make a number of changes for the trip to the Stadio Grande Olimpico with Nedim Bajrami and Filippo Bandinelli both staking their claim for a spot in the midfield. Alberto Grassi and Daniel Akpa are both likely to miss out through injury though, whilst Ardian Ismajili is sidelined until the end of October.
