Tomas Rincon is adapting to a new playmaker position, as negotiations with Arsenal for Torreira seem to have ground to a halt.

New coach Marco Giampaolo had specifically requested Torreira, having already worked with the Uruguayan at Sampdoria.

“The coach has had time to evaluate the squad at his disposal, we are content with what Rincon is doing, so a midfielder in that role is no longer necessarily a priority for us,” Vagnati told Sky Sport Italia.

“We discussed the new technical and tactical project, he is happy with the players and there is still time to the end of the transfer window, so we’ll see what happens then.”
