Torino will wear special shirts against Atalanta, to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the tragic plane crash which killed most of the Chapecoense team.

The Granata have an affinity with the South Americans, as ‘il Grande Torino’ were killed in the Superga air disaster on May 5, 1949.

“A year after the Medellin disaster, following a promise President Urbano Cairo made to President De Nes Filho, Torino FC will play a league match wearing a shirt to honour the Brazilian club,” Toro said in a statement on their website.

“During Torino-Atalanta, Andrea Belotti and the team will be wearing Chapecoense’s green shirt on the pitch.

“It’s a shirt produced in a limited edition of 1500 items, that will be on sale in Granata Stores and Kappa stores; part of the proceeds will be donated to the families of the victims of the plane crash.

“Toro and Chape, united by fate, friends forever.”
