The Granata had already approached him during the January transfer window, but were rebuffed.

Now Coach Walter Mazzarri is pushing again for a reunion with the player he brought to Watford from Juventus in 2016.

Toro are on the verge of qualifying for the Europa League and are not out of the race for a Champions League spot either.

That would bring a bigger budget and free up the cash to sign Pereyra, whose price-tag is in the region of €20m.

The 28-year-old is under contract with Watford until June 2021 and so far this season has contributed six goals and three assists in 34 competitive appearances.
