The game was inevitably transformed when Wilfried Singo received his second yellow card at the 14th minute for what seemed to be a 50-50 challenge with Leonardo Spinazzola, as both players went in with feet raised.

“It’s not about our position on this incident, it is an objective reality. It leaves us speechless that a player can be sent off for that after 14 minutes. It’s so clear, so obvious,” Vagnati told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was a mistake from the referee. Unfortunately, you can call on VAR for a straight red card, but not a second yellow, yet it is still a sending off.

“This is not the first time, we were left down to 10 men for most of the match because of a refereeing error. It’s evident that he gets the ball. It is incredible.

“We are a strong club, in an important city, we make important investments and then we are penalised by an error like this. It’s unconscionable.

“The assistant was five metres away, how could he not see it wasn’t even a foul?”

Torino were also angry about the opening goal, as Gianluca Mancini’s challenge on Andrea Belotti was considered to be fair in the build-up.

“It again seems evident that Mancini, already on a yellow card, fouls Belotti from behind. Andrea gets his foot to the ball first and is then kicked.

“We want to earn our results and be pro-active, but there’s not much we can do if we are left down to 10 men after 14 minutes because of a refereeing error.”

There were some doubts on the penalty too, as it seemed from one angle as if Lyanco did not touch Edin Dzeko, but the contact was visible from another camera.
