Torino have confirmed that defender Perr Schuurs has successfully undergone surgery on his injured knee, releasing a photo of the Dutchman giving the thumbs up from his hospital bed.

The 23-year-old centre-back was forced off early into the second half of Toro’s recent Serie A clash against Inter, having collapsed to the ground following an accidental collision with Italy international Nicolo Barella.

Medical examinations shortly afterwards revealed a tear of Schuurs’ anterior cruciate ligament, which will likely keep him out of action for a minimum of six months.

However, Torino’s latest update indicates that the surgery on Schuurs’ knee went according to plan.

Torino also notified supporters that Schuurs is set to begin his rehabilitation process in two weeks’ time.
