Torino coach Ivan Juric is taking a huge gamble against Milan by giving 18-year-old Lithuanian midfielder Gvidas Gineitis his Serie A debut in the starting XI.

It kicks off at San Siro at 19.45 GMT.

The Granata have already beaten Milan twice this season, 2-1 in Serie A and 1-0 in extra time for the Coppa Italia Round of 16.

Juric has an injury crisis to deal with, missing Samuele Ricci, David Zima, Pietro Pellegri and Valentino Lazaro, while January signing from Hellas Verona Ivan Ilic is only fit enough for the bench.

Gineitis was part of the Torino youth team up until January, when Juric promoted him to the senior squad after an impressive training camp during the break for the 2022 World Cup.

“He is an interesting talent and the only left-footed midfielder in the entire squad,” said Juric at the time.

The teenager came to Italy in August 2020 for the SPAL youth academy, then moved to Torino as part of the deal for Demba Seck in January 2022.

So far this season, he has scored four goals and provided three assists in 14 games for the Torino Primavera youth team.

Not turning 19 until April, Gineitis already has two senior caps for Lithuania, earned in the Baltic Cup against Iceland and Estonia in November 2022.
