Torino overwhelmed Sassuolo with pressure on a chilly November night in the Piedmont capital, deservedly taking home all three points in a 2-1 win.
The Granata have shown both positive and negatives in the first few months of the season, picking up wins over Genoa, Salernitana and Lecce but suffering defeats to Milan, Lazio, Juventus and Inter.
Sassuolo have been in a worse run of form, picking up just two points from their last four games following unexpected wins over the two teams at the top of the table, the Nerazzurri and Bianconeri.
Torino started the match on the front foot and took the lead after just five minutes following a quick counterattack, finished off by a charging Antonio Sanabria.
Their mood was dampened a few minutes later after key talent Samuele Ricci was forced off the pitch with a concerning injury, forcing Juric to bring on Nikola Vlasic.
In a sudden turn of events, Sassuolo found an equaliser in the 18th minute when an error whilst passing out the back allowed Domenico Berardi to nick the ball and play a pass across the box to Kristian Thorstvedt, who thundered a ball into the top corner.
Torino collected their thoughts and quickly began to dominate play again, but were unable to find another opening in the first half.
It took a little while for the Granata to find that breakthrough in the second half. In the 68th minute it arrived through Vlasic, whose smart positioning allowed him to break into the box and place a shot under Andrea Consigli, restoring the home side’s advantage.
Juric’s side stayed in the driving seat for the remainder of the match, allowing them to take home all three points after a strong display in front of their fans.
