Torino could be without defender Perr Schuurs until 2025 after he underwent a fresh operation on the left knee that kept him out since October 2023.

The centre-back was one of the regular starters for Toro until the initial setback, where he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

His return has since been delayed again and again by complications, as he struggled to get beyond even the most basic training sessions.

Schuurs required another operation

Torino sent him to a consultant and today the decision was made to go back in with keyhole surgery at the Fortius Clinic in London.

The operation was performed by Dr Andy Williams with Torino club doctor Daniele Mozzone also present to oversee the process.

A statement from the club notes that the surgery was positive and Schuurs will return to Turin to begin the rehabilitation process.

It is not yet clear how long he will be out of action for, but the 24-year-old Dutch international is likely to be out until 2025.

He was a big investment from Ajax for €9.4m plus add-ons in the summer of 2022.
