Torino forward Andrea Belotti has been diagnosed with a sprained ankle and there is some ligament damage after the Coppa Italia clash with Cremonese.

The striker limped off after an accidental collision that saw him get tangled up with an opponent, who landed on his ankle, moving it in an unnatural way.

A statement from Torino confirms this evening that Belotti has a sprained right ankle, with partial sprain of the collateral medial ligament.

His condition will be evaluated on a daily basis and he is undergoing treatment.

Fellow forward Simone Zaza is also in doubt for this weekend’s Serie A opener against Atalanta on Saturday, as he has a bruised left knee.

Torino could not go beyond 0-0 against 10-man Cremonese, needing a penalty shoot-out to reach the Second Round of the Coppa Italia.
