Atalanta, Roma, Fiorentina and Arsenal had also been linked with his services, but Toro remain the favourites.

According to Tuttosport, the latest proposal from the Granata is very close to gaining his approval.

It’d be a two-year contract worth €1.75m per season, whereas he is asking for €2m until June 2023.

Bonaventura turns 31 in August and has been at Milan since leaving Atalanta in 2014.
