Tributes from former clubs and colleagues have begun flooding in for the late Sinisa Miahjlovic, who sadly passed away one year ago today.

Mihajlovic had been diagnosed with leukaemia in July 2019 and passed away after a courageous battle on December 16, 2022 at the age of 53.

Mihajlovic had spent the majority of his playing career and almost the entirety of his time in management within Serie A, turning out for Roma, Sampdoria, Lazio and Inter before hanging up his boots, winning Ttwo Serie A titles, five Coppa Italias, two Supercoppa Italiana trophies and a European Cup Winners’ Cup with Lazio.

He had been capped 63 times by Yugoslavia as well.

2008 saw the beginning of Mihajlovic’s career in the dugout, taking over at Bologna in November of that season, following a spell as assistant to former teammate Roberto Mancini at Inter.

From there, Mihajlovic enjoyed a near 15-year career in management, on a journey that via him through Catania, Fiorentina, the Serbia national team, back to Sampdoria, north to Milan, over to Torino, a brief sting in Portugal with Sporting CP and another spell back with Bologna.

Torino and Bologna, the last team Mihajlovic coached before his passing, have led the tributes on social media, both sharing the message: “Sinisa, always with us.”

There have also been recent tributes from the likes of Luciano Spalletti and Walter Zenga in Saturday’s sports papers.

Mihajlovic’s family are expected to be in attendance for Bologna’s Serie A match against Roma on Sunday afternoon, where tributes will be continued in the stadium.
