Torino welcomed Udinese to Turin on Monday night to conclude Serie A Week 13, with the teams locked on 14 points each ahead of the tie.

But it was the home side who started the match on the front foot, as Ivan Juric’s men continued to build on the intense style of play from recent weeks.

And Josip Brekalo gave the Granata an early lead when his long-range effort beat Marco Silvestri in the Bianconeri goal.

The attacking midfielder received the ball at 25 yards took a step towards goal and smashed it into the corner.

Udinese tried to respond immediately but didn’t manage to give Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic any trouble early on.

Torino were looking for the possible counterattacks after going up 1-0 and both sides continued to play with aggression in the duels.

Brekalo’s goal separated the sides at half-time, but it was an inspired Torino who came out after the break.

Andrea Belotti had already squandered a big opportunity when Gleison Bremer doubled the lead after 48 minutes, as the Brazilian defender scored his sixth in 2021.

The defender ultimately got the ball across the line after a minute of havoc in the Udinese box.

One off the post and two stopped on the line, before the ball was headed down to Bremer who proved the most determined to win the loose ball and smashed it into the roof of the net.

Torino seemed in control after doubling the lead and the frustration of the Udinese players ended in yellow cards to Roberto Pereyra and Walace, before substitute Fernando Forestieri woke up the guests.

The Bianconeri forward scored from a direct free kick after 77 minutes, when he beat Milinkovic-Savic in his corner with a precise finish from 25 yards.

Forestieri’s curler into the top corner helped Udinese gain belief they could bounce back and Gotti’s men continued to push for the equaliser for the remainder of the match.

Torino made defensive substitutions to protect the lead and continued to give the Friuli a hard time on the ball.

Vanja was forced into making an incredible save towards the end, as Toro were hanging on for dear life in the final minutes of the match.

But Juric’s Granata held on and climbed to 11th in the league, currently sitting one point behind Bologna in the top half of the table.
