Italy World Cup winner trolled France after their elimination from Euro 2020: ‘A la maison…’

The World Cup champions faced a shocking elimination at the hands of Switzerland in the round of 16 of Euro 2020.

The Swiss recovered from two goals down to send the game into extra time and eventually won it on penalties with Kylian Mbappé, who was the only man to miss in the shootout.

Les Blues were tipped to be the favourites to win the competition and their elimination came as a huge surprise for everybody, especially considering they entered the last ten minutes of the game with a two-goal lead.

France elimination from a major tournament is not something Italians celebrate lightly due to the rivalry between the two nations.

Former Azzurri striker Luca Toni trolled Les Blues with a comment on Instagram writing: ‘Francesi a la maison,’ which translates into: ‘The French at home’ in a comment.

Toni won the 2006 World Cup with the Azzurri, lifting the cup after a hard-fought Final won on penalties against France in Berlin.
