“I have a great deal of affection and admiration, but also this sense of wanting to prove myself,” Tonelli told Sky Sport Italia.

“At the end of the day, I should always feel like that in every match and not just against my old club.”

Since Tonelli’s departure during the January transfer window, Gennaro Gattuso has started to get positive results out of the squad.

“Napoli have rediscovered their confidence lately and that is very dangerous for us, because we know they have players of immense quality and their current position in the table does not represent their value.

“We must try to play our football and stick to the ideas we worked on during the week in training.”
