Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali said his ‘dream has become reality’ and the youngster will use veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic ‘as an example’ to follow.

Tonali made his Serie A debut in the Rossoneri jersey for the final 13 minutes of the 2-0 win against Bologna on Monday.

“Now the dream has become reality but in a few days there’s another match and we are focused on doing well,” Tonali said.

“It’s nice to live the dream but we must be careful about the many matches we have to play.”

The young Italy international admitted he settled quickly at Milan and praised his new teammates.

“I didn’t find any difficulties, but the level has increased. My teammates are fantastic because they help everyone and are willing to sacrifice themselves for their colleagues.

“It’s nice to play with this group, we’re a young team who want to win and we proved it today.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a brace in the first League match and Tonali said the Swede proved he can still ‘win games and score goals’ in Serie A.

“Ibrahimovic is strong, as well as being an idol for everyone,” the new midfielder added. “At 39, he has shown he can still play, win games and score.

“We must all use him as an example and as a teammate who can help us win games.”

Tonali has been given No8 at Milan and the weight of the number spurs him on.

“It’s a number that is not only beautiful but also important for me and the history of Milan,” he said.

“Wearing it is an honour. I have to give my best and do what the previous number eights at Milan did.”
