Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali praises Paolo Maldini and says the Spaniards are leading the Rossoneri’s dressing room celebrations at the Mapei Stadium: ‘They don’t mess around…’

The Italy international has won the first Scudetto in his career and has been one of Milan’s key players this term.

The Rossoneri conquered their first Serie A title in 11 years after beating Sassuolo 3-0 at the Mapei Stadium today.

Tonali arrived for his post-match interview with DAZN after Paolo Maldini who had praised him during his meeting with the media.

Maldini: ‘I’ve become a director only for Milan’

“Maldini is Milan, a winner. He is a great person, he is always close to us and for a player, it’s great to be surrounded by players who love you and are always there during training,” the former Brescia star said.

Tonali had promised he’d have a tattoo had Milan won the Scudetto? Has he already decided what he’ll get?

“No, I don’t know. I think something on the left arm because it’s something I need to see.

“I dreamed of winning the Champions League with Milan, but there is no better feeling right now, as Serie A champions.”

What does he want to say to Milan fans?

“Only thanks, we were forced to remain separate last season. Today it was impossible for all of them to be here, but they’ve given us that extra push when we had no more energy. We should thank all of them, one by one.”

Former Serie A and Italy midfielder Marco Parolo asked who is leading the dressing room celebrations and Tonali replied smiling: “The Spaniards don’t mess around…”

Tonali joined the Rossoneri on an initial loan deal from Brescia in 2020 and the Rossoneri made his move permanent last summer despite a disappointing first spell at the club. He has become one of Milan’s key players this season.
