The Diavolo played 1-1 at Old Trafford in the first of two legs in the Europa League, thanks to Simon Kjaer’s equaliser in stoppages.

Tonali, who played the last 20 minutes of the match in England, immediately wanted to shift the focus on the next League game against Napoli but felt Milan ‘sent an important message’.

“Our objective is to forget what happened because we have another important match on Sunday,” Tonali told Sky Sport Itaila.

“Yesterday, we sent an important signal to everyone, and not just to the clubs in Europe, because no one was expecting it.”
