La Gazzetta dello Sport reports the FIGC Prosecutor will likely determine Sandro Tonali’s suspension by next week, meaning the upcoming Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace could be the last one of the season for the Italy international.
The 23-year-old was heard by the Turin and FIGC Prosecutors this week and admitted to gambling on Milan while under contract with the Rossoneri, although he only bet on his ex-club to win games.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the FIGC Prosecutor will offer the Italian midfielder a plea bargain, announcing his suspension before next week’s Champions League fixture between Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund.
This means the upcoming Premier League match with Crystal Place would be the last one for Tonali this season, provided he’ll be involved.
The pink paper claims it’s ‘tough to predict the ban’s length’, but considering Nicolò Fagioli’s seven-month suspension, Tonali could be banned for one year or slightly more.
Newcastle said on Wednesday that Tonali and his family were receiving ‘the club’s full support, while the player’s agent Beppe Riso, has recently confirmed his client is addicted to gambling.
